Preparing the Investment Template

Preparing the Investment Template

Spending a few minutes before your Investment Meeting by pre-configuring the Investment Template will help you and your client work through the Investment Analysis process much more efficiently without getting distracted with irrelevant categories and topics.  This step is optional, but highly recommended.

From the Investment page on the right side pane, click on the name of the Investment Job Section you created (blue link) to enter into the Investment Analysis Template.

Notice on the top of the main window, you will have two buttons, Setup and Selection.
  1. Setup - When "SETUP" mode is selected, you will go through each category and change quantities as needed for the project.  This will allow you to prepare the template before your sit down meeting with the client using their Homework documents.  After you've finished updating all of the categories with the desired quantities, you'll need to scroll back to the top (or use the UP arrow toward the bottom left of the middle pane) to change to "SELECTION" mode.
  2. Selection - This mode is where you will work together with your prospective client to select the desired price/quality level for each category.  After this section is completed, another button "VALIDATE" will appear next to "SELECTION."  Clicking Validate will make sure you've chosen a price level for every category that has a quantity assigned to it so that nothing is missed.
When in Setup mode, there is a slide for Advanced View.  Selecting this view will display approximate cost and markup figures for each category as well as the running subtotal under INVESTMENT on the right.

The next row displays the Price Levels, and the running subtotal for the template is calculated under INVESTMENT on the right.  The Investment subtotal will only calculate once a quantity AND a Price Level selection has been made for that category.

To edit or delete the category, click the ACTIONS... button.  Each Category has several editable fields:
  1. Markup - Adjusts desired profit for the entire category.
  2. % Adjustment - Allows you to fine tune pricing for each price level.  Use a negative number to lower the price/markup.
  3. Description - Customize the description of each price level for each category to suit your specific needs or client expectations.
Make sure to click SAVE to keep your changes and return to the template.

Continue this process all the way through to the bottom of the template to insure you don't miss any relevant categories for the project.

Now you're ready for your Investment Meeting!  Go ahead and schedule it with your client.
